I been sayin’ this — what people call Auto-Tune now been around in different forms since the ‘70s. They used vocoders, talk boxes, pitch-shiftin’, all types of audio manipulation way before Antares dropped the official Auto-Tune plugin in ‘97. So nah, this tech ain’t new — it just evolved.
Future? His whole sound is built on that. His vocals stay layered in effects — Auto-Tune, pitch correction, formant shiftin’, reverb automation — the whole chain. At this point, it’s deeper than style — it’s like a digital identity. You could lowkey say it’s AI-assisted, ‘cause these days, a lotta these vocal chains bein’ powered by machine learning behind the scenes. Future just mastered the emotion through the manipulation. That’s what makes his sound hit different.
Real talk, I don’t even remember a track of his that wasn’t drenched in some level of vocal processing. It’s part of the formula now. Always has been — we just catchin’ up to what’s really goin’ on sonically.
