I think you missed the point about the AI portion of the contract. It’s not about forbidding use for the sake of forbidding, it’s like that so there’s no room or very little room for companies or producers to use loopholes to avoid paying their writers. Because if AI was allowed to write or rewrite works and have it count, then there would be some who would use only AI writers. Because you don’t have to pay AI to write, and if they made a profit from doing that then everyone else would follow. Meaning there would be no writers only those that edit what the AI writes. The second clause about AI is there to reaffirm the idea that AI is not banned. So you don’t have to worry. It’s in the contract so writers can ensure they keep their jobs when AI is involved. Which will lead to AI advancing in Hollywood at a safer but slower pace. And as movies become more complex with better written stories and details considered, it means AI will become a huge help at ensuring quality of movies and media. So no worries, AI isn’t staying out it’s just being handled responsibly and with consideration towards those who would lose their jobs if it wasn’t.
