You can't give an sentinent AI many rights. A general AI which is sentinent is too powerful. The risk is high if it has a plan that it can execute the plan wether we humans want it or not. We as humans need to be protected from AI and not so much the other way around.
But the program here is not sentinent. It is similar to your image in a mirror. Because you are sentinent the image looks like being sentinent but is only a reflection of your actions.
