I disagree with your stance on GDPR and Cookies. I’m very keen on my privacy and i often read privacy policies and scroll through lists of cookies to see who will get my data. Some apps like trainline here in the uk have vendor lists with over 200 companies! Why do 200 companies need to know where I’m getting the train to? Lol, deny! For most sites I have an auto reject cookie browser addon and I use brave to further block trackers. But I still come across annoying cookie lists and malicious compliance where they have an acceptable all button but force you to uncheck the hundreds of companies they’re giving your data to individually! How insane! In those cases, I know the site is likely a data farm and I take my leave. Think of it this way- when you open social media and you come across a short that coincidentally touches on the same topic as a recent conversation, and you wonder how they did it- that’s because of cookies. I used to think it was my mic, but no. They’ve managed to collect and, link and identify SO MUCH information about you and me, that their algorithms can guess what you are talking about in the moment without having to listen to you. They know you better than yourself, and that’s because you accept all the cookies and leave a massive data footprint by doing so (which is sold and used, who knows how). For this reason GDPR is, imo, one of the most important pieces of legislation for privacy needs like myself. It has also saved me many times from being scammed by companies and getting my information for complaints and legal purposes. It’s allowed me to force these creeps to delete my data so they can’t predict my every move. It’s very very important and the fact they’re trying to “simplify” it right now (by effectively reducing and removing our rights) is a big red flag. I don’t trust anyone other than myself with my info.
