@USRM1810 Yes and no. Stealing implies it took something and the original owner does not have it anymore, but in reality it just copied an image found on the internet that was easily available to it. That's something photo editors usually do as well if they are creating something from scratch as it is often protected if used in a way which makes it unrecognizable or heavily changes the original piece it was taken from.
It's also something humans do to learn. I wouldn't call AI generation art until a human has had significant involvement in the finished product. I do agree though that it is a bit shady for AI gen with datasets based off of copyrighted material found online to be making money off of AI gen.
