About your statement regarding watermarks...that's the thing though, the original source fed to the ai contains signatures/watermarks of some artists, meaning the art was possibly stolen from artists and fed to the ai, thus it learnt about the watermarks too. The action of producing a picture with watermark isn't theft, but its a prove that thievery was committed. A person showed the "human in black box" images they stole from people and asked them to create more art, they are going to create art based on stolen images. The "human in black box" might had not committed thievery by sketching out watermarks poorly, but the person giving them the images to learn from sure did.
