​​@halflife_reporterArt has always evolved over the years with the introduction of newer technologies that ultimately make the process far less time consuming. When the camera was introduced in the 1800s, it could generate a picture in seconds whereas artists took days or weeks. And Artist back then said taking a picture with a camera wasn't art because the camera was doimg all the work and the photographers weren't painting the photos themselves. But look at things now. Photography itself has become a form of art. It's literally the same thing with AI. You generate a picture as a base template and then upload it to photoshop or some other image editing software to edit, upscale, layer, tweak, etc. to make it uniquely your own. Which is the EXACT same thing Photographers do. And no, AI does not "steal art". It's trained on how to mimic art on various different art styles. Anime, Photorealism, Pixel Art, you name it. It's trained on the STYLE which is not copyrighted and ANYONE can make art in those styles regardless of the method. Now if the person generating the prompt TELLS AI to generate the image in the style of a particular artist, then yeah. THAT'S stealing art and is definitely wrong. But at the same time, artists unfortunately do this all the time. Technically anytime you draw a copyrighted character (even if it's fan art) and then you go and sell it, that is legally stealing art as well. Because that copyrighted character doesn't belong to the artist. And Artists unfortunately do this a LOT and NO ONE bats an eye. Someone does the SAME THING with AI and suddenly it's the end of the world? Like...make it make sense! At the end of the day, you don't have to like it, but AI Art is just a tool. No different then a camera, or a paintbrush, or premiere pro. And people's should be free to bring their visions to life however they want without being shamed or bullied.
