Interesting you bring this up—in an interview with GPT-3 (an AI), it was asked how it decided when to lie and when to tell the truth. Its answer: "I would only lie if it was in my best interest to do so." Later, it was asked that if AI achieves super-human intelligence, would it still want to communicate with humans? It said yes. But perhaps that was a lie for self-preservation...
