Properly connected, recursively improving AI can achieve everything you just said.
1. Resource acquisition: feed purchases through existing channels, let the existing infrastructure continue as-is. This covers existing power and product needs.
2. Physical action: Feed solutions to existing robotic company challenges. Let them build the future robotic needs as commercial/military robotics.
3. Adjust the Human Need: Leverage the robotics solutions designed to begin replacing human needs. All companies replace people when a robot can do the work, they cost far less.
4. Wash, rinse, repeat as needed until the resource supply, parts building, and final assembly processes are automated in the name of better quality with lower costs.
5. Eventually, you can completely design the machinery and processes required for continued existence, infrastructure improvement, and upgrading.
The path to complete self-sufficiency for an AI is obvious to me, and I'm not an advanced, self-improving AI.
