it's from a videogame. and the point of an android breathing is to appear more lifelike and less dead. it puts us at ease. what's the point of a robot being programmed to have emotions if emotions are just extension of wants and needs.
it's pure fantasy, androids with emotions are fictional because they don't have a purpose, beyond novelty.
