25% of Americans already make 25,000 per year or less if employed or are under employed or unemployed completely. The AI that's being created is specifically designed to eliminate jobs. It's not being designed to create more innovative and higher paying jobs. The people creating these technologies are malthusian and believe the world is overcrowded and overpopulated. Increasing minimum wages in fast food and hospitality in California is designed to make human labor so expensive that automation which will be leased, not owned, looks cheap, by comparison. Gig work is a con job and they know it. None of these multimillionaire/billionaire tech bros. does gig work. Gig work is what they entice you with. They own the apps or supply the venture capital to the owners of the apps.
