@Codestar-u1i Nobody's whining, the same as nobody's panicking, contrary to what the title of the video says.
I need to preface by saying that this is not a smart question to ask, I know that it's in provocation, but it's like asking "Hey explain me what I don't know about programming, when all i know is that code makes computer do things", what am I supposed to do, explain to you the entirety of programming? Your tone is already hostile and dismissive before we even had any exchange, and it's a little ignorant and close-minded to act dismissive about a topic you have no experience with, don't you think? It comes across as completely dishonest.
What do you want to know? There is so much that goes into it that I can't cover it in a single comment. From prompt engineering, to noise, to combining LoRAs, to parameter values, sigma shifting models, fine-tuning checkpoints, UNet, concept training, weighting, denoising, model combining, VAEs, encoders, workflows, custom nodes, optimizers, schedulers, detailers, steps, pipelines, controlnet and drawing/creating reference images in 3d softwares to replicate poses, training custom adaptations, bypassing functions and so on. Not to mention how every model has its own quirks and interpretation of parameters and tokens. Each of these topics would need several pages, some of them would take weeks to properly grasp through experimentation. I cannot explain those to you, because you'd need to be willing to understand the basics, and like most people who shun what they don't understand, you haven't bothered to.
People that think that people that actually work with this stuff type a prompt and the AI does the rest have zero idea of what actually goes into actually making proper use of AI. Most of which, by the way, you have seen and appreciated, but aren't aware it's AI content, because even artists and people that do this as a job can't notice it when it's done really well. Advanced ComfyUI workflows with 100s of nodes are difficult to understand even for skilled users. Prompting is not even 10% of what goes into it. What experts do isn't asking the AI what to do, it's more like operating on the AI's brain and rewiring every neuron into doing what you want, it's closer to programming than anything else, the text portion is a tiny fraction of that.
The main issue around AI is that 99% of people talking about it are deeply ignorant on the subject, and speak of it like a middle-aged mom calling all pokemons Pikachu and all consoles Playstation. The reality is that generative AI is an incredibly deep subject. I get that people like to fit in and hold the widely accepted opinion, I get that history repeats itself, but Jesus Christ we went through this with the invention of the camera, with Photoshop, with computer animation. "You press a button and it makes the picture in your stead", "It's the computer that does it". Sounds familiar? Nevermind that photography has a million things that require study, and so does photoshop, computer animation, and now AI.
But don't take my word for it, think of a picture you really like, and try to use an AI api you find to replicate exactly the same style, lighting, frame and pose as it is in your head, you'll quickly understand that it isn't easy at all. By the way, most of the best AI creators are pen and paper/hands on artists that also do AI work, because concepts like anatomy, lighting, photography, composition and colour theory carry over, so yes, the term AI artists is correct.
I get that right now it's the pre-approved opinion to hold, and I'm fully aware people nowdays think what they're told to think, but Jesus Christ people, dismissing a subject you have no experience of understanding of is caveman levels of ignorance. It's not understanding and refusing to understand.
There are good reasons to dislike AI in it's current form, like copyright infringement, and the possibility of creating potentially unsavoury, misleading or even illegal content. But at the end of the day it's a tool, it's like hating photoshop or a camera. The problem is we live in an age where people don't think or learn, they just look up what is the correct opinion to have and repeat it.
