@Sasparilla_ first of all, she's misinformed on how generative AI works; it cannot steal things as it doesn't have storage to store stolen imagery. Secondly, she gives a false dichotomy near the end, which is somewhat like "if it doesn't steal, its outputs wouldn't be crap when we post poisoned art, but if it does, it would be affected by it", where it either does steal or doesn't, which is a fallacy. Pretty much everything is more nuanced than "either this or that".
I also don't really use generative AI much at all, but I do have one question: why do artists get fed up about generative AI, yet there is so much less anger around LLMs? Like, they're pretty much doing the same thing that generative AI is doing, yet almost no one complains about it. Why is that?
However, I do admit that I may have missed some acknowledgment of nuance from her in the subject and times where AI helps people. Thanks for pointing that out!
