@thewannabecritic7490 I didn't say it doesn't work. I said it only works if the nightshade-corrupted image makes it into the dataset.
The artists who keep quiet about using nightshade are the only ones costing the AI companies money. If you've ever publicly posted that you use it, then any art attributed to you will just be algorithmically struck from the dataset based on an exclusion list.
The poison needs to make it into the target for it to work. And even if it does make it into the target, it only ruins the new models they're trying to create - the old ones aren't impacted. So it doesn't kill the AI, it just costs them money and slows down progress.
That can be enough. But only if everyone shuts up and lets the AI trust their corrupt images so it actually *EATS* them. You should read a comment before replying next time. Not only do I agree with her from a moral standpoint - I'm giving everyone here a bit of technical advice that will be helpful if they actually do want to keep AI from destroying their livelihoods.
