@BrendanDell The "right" message is always going to be biased based on who is giving you the answer. However, in order to at least placate the masses AI should be demonstrated as a tool that will increase people's quality of life. Whether that means working less hours and with similar earning potential, or relying on government provided income that would leave you wanting for little.
In the US it's going to be a wild ride since there aren't the same kinds of labor protections as in the EU, couple that with lobbying groups it will be difficult to force large businesses to pay a larger percentage in taxes. Eventually though as more people become have nots it will lead to revolution unless regulators can get legislation passed without the influence of the lobbying groups.
I'm vehemently anti-communist but with the way society is set up if AI displaces most of human labor then there's no other option than to share that wealth with the masses to keep the system from completely collapsing. To be honest we already have plenty of "bullshit" jobs that don't need to exist, while AI promises to replace useful work. There will be new jobs created but not nearly enough to give everyone something to do.
