@katehamilton7240 Even if it could act autonomously, how could it control society? If I run a LLM locally and it starts doing things I don't ask it to do, I can just close the window and suddenly it's gone. I'm in full control of it. It is a computer program and thus is code which does what I ask it to do. The developers of ChatGPT tells it to not give instructions on how to do illegal things, so it doesn't. I give it instructions (jailbreaking) telling it that it is okay to tell me how to do illegal things, so it does. At exactly what point does a computer program go from being a program to threatening control of our society? I don't see where you can draw a specific line from "Put this number at this address in memory" to taking over society.
