Art isn't that deep; if putting a few lines on a piece of paper is art, like art teachers impress on new students, then using advanced tools to create art is also art. This stripped identity only serves as a means of creating an "us vs them" mentality. And what do you mean with "real artists are hard to find in those spaces"? There's a metric ton of art subreddits, both to enjoy it and to learn it. In fact, most of Reddit is anti AI. Moreover, plenty of AI artists actually draw themselves, a fact which antis apparently really dread to know. People are not "simply expressing their views." Have you ever noticed how incredibly vitriolic a lot of these comments are, even though most places are already against AI? Or how some antis treat anyone using anything related to AI? It's a worrying movement laced with contempt, dehumanisation and cyberbullying. Not being hyperbolic there; they genuinely view being in favor of AI to be on par with kicking puppies or something. "Why are you not letting us enjoy real art" is not a real thing. Precisely zero AI artists are out to mock people solely for drawing. I'd wager those saying that are bad faith actors or perhaps statistical outliers, and certainly not people pro AI folk take seriously. You're right in that companies largely don't care, that's just true for most companies out there. Most companies are downright evil. However, companies aren't the only pathway to AI. Locally run AI is becoming more common and popular, reducing the need for subscriptions to these companies and their policies.
