So is human generated art, though. If you look at 5000 paintings, and then paint your own, you're unconsciously using concepts, ideas, techniques, colors, etc that you saw in those paintings. The AI is doing the same exact thing, it's not "copying" in any way, it's learning how to associate words with shapes and colors, just like a human, just not as good as us, yet.
With the level of data the AI has, it is now capable of abstraction. For example, there's no such thing as a green cat, but the AI can generate green cats, because it learned how to associate what "green" is, and what a "cat" is, and that cats can have different colors, but even though it has never seen a green cat before, it can make it.
