@vexxobex7333 I understand your viewpoint, and I think this is where the debate gets interesting. The transition from traditional to digital art did spark similar concerns, but the key difference with AI-generated art is that it raises fundamental questions about authorship and creativity. While it’s true that AI is trained on data from millions of existing works, it doesn't directly copy or replicate any single piece. Instead, it uses algorithms to generate something new based on patterns, styles, and concepts that it has learned. In that sense, AI art can be viewed as a collaborative effort between the artist and the machine, with the artist providing the initial direction and creative input.
In terms of how much the artist contributes, I get that it can seem like the AI is doing all the 'work.' But I think it’s important to remember that the choices the artist makes, like the prompts, the style, and the parameters, still shape the outcome. It’s a different kind of creative process, where the artist becomes more of a curator or director, guiding the AI to produce something unique. This isn't so different from using other tools, like Photoshop, or even synthesizers in music, where the artist may not be manually painting every pixel or playing every note, but is still shaping the final product with their vision.
Also, the argument that AI art isn't 'real art' is subjective. I can understand how someone might feel that way, but ultimately, art has always evolved with technology. If we didn't embrace new tools like photography or digital software, we wouldn’t have a lot of the art forms we appreciate today. The boundaries of what is considered art have always shifted over time.
As for the idea that AI is the 'maker', it’s an interesting question. But I’d argue that the process is still a creative act. Just as a director or producer shapes a film by selecting the right crew and overseeing the project, the artist continues to guide the process, even if the machine does much of the heavy lifting.
