AI code is already in many production apps. It's a great tool if you know how to use it, but it won't replace software engineers. Senior engineers will be needed for a long time to come, and companies must hire junior engineers and train them to become seniors anyway, so juniors are not going anywhere either. Maybe the hire rates might drop, but I believe in the opposite, since our society is moving more towards digitalization, apps get more complex, pretty much all services depend on the internet, and governmental applications and even the Electric Grid is coming to the digital era, which will skyrocket the demand for Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, and any other type of engineer out there.
