I mean….it is soulless slop, objectively. Digital artists, CG artists, photographers, mixed media artists, and whatever medium you can think of transformed and diversified art. They created entirely new mediums and carved out their own spaces to exist in the art world. They didn’t actually steal from or attempt to replace other mediums. The purpose and role of art remains the exact same, despite how much it has radically changed across decades and centuries. What is that purpose? To communicate, transform, and inspire human creativity and culture, express societal trends and the time period it was created in, and explore the life and experiences of the individual artist. Artists have developed and utilized extremely specific skills, methods, and theories which have existed for centuries. Color, lighting, composition, form, contrast….EVERYTHING lends itself to the artist’s concept they’re conveying to the viewer. AKA, artists are expert decision makers. This transcends mediums. ALL artists use these methods and fulfill their role as creatives, it doesn’t matter if their tool is a camera, Photoshop, or a paintbrush. AI decides nothing, communicates nothing, represents nothing, and inspires nothing. It’s literally just a random amalgamation of images spit into one singular image. Anything else is just post-hoc justification. There’s zero human creativity involved in the creation of an AI image. That’s not art. And we can see AI “artists” don’t care about art or the preservation of artistic and creative spaces, considering they keep lying and trying to pass off their work as human-made.
