Exactly. That's why this scenario cannot happen. If we get to the point that rising job loses cause a global recession then consumer demand will fall off a cliff and all these companies that are buying AI software and robots to automate their businesses will be going bust or seriously cutting their spending. So the AI companies that have borrowed billions to build vast data centres will suddenly have far fewer people to sell to and will be in financial trouble themselves.
It will be a lot like the financial crash in 2008. One industry goes out of control, bringing the rest of the economy down with it. AI companies will probably go running to the government asking for bailouts. What's not going to happen is some sort of robot apocalypse.
