People like to say new conventions that go belly-up on first try are scams attempting to suck people out of money when that doesn't really make any sense. Conventions aren't profitable for a really long time, starting one takes a massive amount of work. But honestly? You could probably swindle AI bros hard enough with a convention-esque situation that you could actually come out on top. They're that bad at reading the room and seeing red flags that this is an inevitable headline on the horizon.
