@vinny-g6s 1. Are we owed respect and dignity? Yes. People are made in the image of God (you may or may not agree). But are you owed a job? No. If I hire someone and they AGREE to the wages I pay them and they do a bad job, then no, they are not owed a job based on the agreement between the worker and the one paying for the work to be done. You're not owed employment unconditionally — just like a business isn’t owed your labor if they exploit you. It's a two-way street. You can say the corporations are evil and unfair, but corporations were built by people who owned them and invested time, money, energy, etc. to make their business thrive and that it's a net positive for society when businesses thrive whether it's the local coffee shop or the power plant. I'm not in disagreement that there are unfair work conditions or unfair pay, but that just means those are badly managed businesses. I'm saying this as someone who worked over a decade in retail and pest control, that a bad CEO can ruin a company. But the reality is, I don't have to work for them and even when I did just to survive, I eventually found a new job and I grew from my experience. The goal should be economic dignity, not rigid job preservation. 2. If you have internet access, anyone can go on Bing's image generator and create. I also think you're overgeneralizing and appealing to fear as if the technology can never improve or change on zero grounds. The goal is for technology to eventually be available widely like computers, cell phones, plumbing, electricity, etc. 3. Sure - you, me, and everyone else can pick up a paper and draw. But we also can do the same with AI and I can use AI to narrow down concepts for what I want to draw with pencil and paper. AI isn't replacing pen and paper. You can still do things with pen and paper and there is still an audience and buyers who want those things, but it's not reliable like other jobs are and you have to be good at what you do to make that happen. I still think corporations still need savvy graphic designers, but what that looks like regarding pay and working conditions is between the worker and the business. Regarding control, see point 8 again. Some people don't have the skills to make what they want and if they're like me, they probably have artists that can capture their vision enough to pay them. The value of AI Art for concepts is immeasurable. That's where I'm coming from. 4. Right, because it requires less work than that would be fair compensation. And I don't think AI "nothing more than" like you say. If I am budgeting for an animation project, on one hand, I want the project to flourish and my workers to be happy, but on the other hand, I am also trying to save and make a profit to justify the costs of the project - these are the kinds of things a producer has to consider when making anything. Here we arrive at the need for morally good people to run things, but that's not the world we live in. The solutions brought forth are not going to solve the actual problem, which to switch gears here, is a theological one. From my perspective as a Christian this all comes down to sin and the need for redemption. No system, no technology, no economic fix will save us. You may not agree, but if we really want a world filled with truth and beauty, it starts with repentance and believing the Gospel — and from there, everything else follows.
