I wonder what a benchmark for consciuosness, agency and intentionality we _can_ design? How would it look like, when we can always reduce software to what it does?
I'm not saying that current neural network models are conscious or close to it, it's just... how can we practically disprove the claim that "it's not self-aware, intentional and agent-like" if we ever encounter something that is like that?
For me a mark of "true" agentic AI, regardless of whether it has consciousness or not is probably some combination of maintaining a sort of homeostasis (self-regulation and self-maintenance) and being able to achieve goals or advance agendas in changing environments.
