Exactly, it's an investment. Rather than pay people both now and in the future, they'll invest in AI that will work for free. The motivation is obvious.
I agree with the strikes, however. It's a dystopian deal to have your likeness scanned and used to replace you. Why hire E-lister Edwin to be in the background, when Edwin's AI replica will do? Edwin's acting career is over with no chance to move up.
