Quick TL;DR - We can't choose one, because AI is just competent enough to be preferred over paying human beings, but not competent enough to have any artistic value.
Thing is, it is hopelessly incompetent, but it is passable enough for corporations to choose it. Because it's cheaper to produce, than paying actual human beings. I like to think of myself as an artist, and I can churn out around two-three decent-looking drawings per day. AI will produce around a hundred in that time.
But, as usual, corporations prioritise quantity over quality. I've seen some coffee shops use AI-generated art, which looks _passable_ from afar, but downright hideous, if you squint. Actual art can have details and accidental blemishes, that show the person behind it, who might have put special care into certain parts. AI does not.
Also, AI """art""" is usually just a bunch of remixed works, sourced from artists who do not want their art used that way, but techbros only care about someone's rights to any imagery, when it's an NFT, or some other trash.
