@Chris459expenses was never the reason for Elons decision. He uses lidar for his Falcon 9 because it suited the situation. Lidar complicates the decision making of the Ai. Lidar is redundant. That's why Waymo in the last month had 150 incidents while Tesla's Robotaxi had 0. Vision and Traction censors are what Tesla uses as data for it's on board Ai to decide what actions are needed to use for that instance in time. What don't you get?
