Unintended consequence or outlier are itself an interesting things to discover. Not to mention this experiment would have stronger implications down the line when algorithm play a much bigger role in society decision making for job, crime background check, recruitment, remuneration and etc... You are right that this example is not a big problem. What it can or will be are worth understanding.
