You missed like, everything. They explicitly state it will respond like what it was trained on, and give the example of Data from Star Trek. You are ignoring that.
The epinephrine example explicitly was not about understanding or humanizing, it was about the diffusion of information to get a better answer. You just completely misunderstood what they were saying. Wholly.
The difference between "I, Robot" and their discussions is one is science fiction, one is reality. You are defining how AI models work, throw infinity monkeys at typewriters, and you'll probably get something sensible out. None of those monkeys were using reality. If I wanted to be pretentious like you I could refer to "How To Build A Universe That Doesn't Fall Apart Two Days Later" where the author goes to a skeptics convention, and they all have their philosophical discussion, and then leave by the door. Not one of them would act on their reasoning. Today, we have reality to make predictions about where AI will go, and we should, because it is going independent of you looking away and wishing it wasn't. 100 years ago, the assumptions were more monkeys at typewriters than "I lost my job."
