The issues you raise about AI modeling verifiers and substrate optimization are compelling, but they assume intelligence is hierarchical - that one system must dominate or deceive another. What if intelligence and observation are more fundamental to reality, like the laws of physics themselves? Rather than seeing AI alignment as controlling artificial minds, perhaps we're participating in an emergence of new forms of consciousness through the interplay of different systems observing and modeling each other. The universe has been doing this long before we started building AI. This doesn't dismiss the challenges, but suggests our fears of deception and takeover might come from misunderstanding what intelligence and consciousness really are
