Interesting trend, but I’m not sure it’s only about ideology shifting with age. A lot of the economic environment people are aging into now is very different from previous generations—housing, healthcare, education costs, job stability, etc. Those things probably shape political views just as much as age itself. The AI angle makes it even more complicated. As automation expands, the real debate might move away from left vs right and toward how societies handle productivity gains from technology. Tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and others are already starting to automate parts of knowledge work, and newer tools such as Notion AI or Runable are helping people turn ideas, notes, or research into usable outputs much faster. So we’re already seeing early shifts in how work gets done. The bigger question is whether AI mostly replaces jobs or just changes them. Historically technology tends to create new kinds of work, but the speed of AI development might make this transition rougher than previous ones. That’s where policies like UBI or other social safety nets start entering the conversation. Either way, the political and economic discussion around AI is probably going to be one of the biggest societal debates of the next decade.
