I think that's fine, most folks don't mind people playing around with ai other than the power usage, especially if you're just using it as a educational tool. People will only get upset if you post it as completely your own work.
I'm gonna also put in another couple cents to this opinion. Unless you want your end style to look like ai generations, you might be holding yourself back. AI generations often have incorrect lighting, or a very generic look. It might be better for your work in the long run to study from IRL references, and to do master studies of artists you love.
