The difference with digital art tools is that if you have an adobe licence, your allowed to use it and if you buy a paint brush you're allowed to use it. What makes generative AI such a conceptually weak tool is the amount of uncredited original art that it fundamentally needs as its ingredients.
If studio Ghibli themselves created a AI model using frames of their movies, that would be fine but that's not happening now. Yes there's fair use and the concept of transformative content but i'd argue that transformative images should be transformed purposefully by a human not an algorithm.
