@SusCalvin I'm not talking about books. Books are a small part of the industry. I'm talking about Medical Studies, Financial and Marketing reports, Legal cases and other legal documents etc. It's actually Machine Translation which is not "produced" by the machine. *It started with gigantic databases that were harvesting the phrases directly from the translators, despite the disclaimer that they didn't.* AI did not change that, it just provided a user-friendly interface. Progressively, the language got worse and is still getting too simplistic and "stupid". Most end-clients reacted by including a statement "in case of conflict, the English text shall prevail", admitting that the translated text could be compromised. Because they were 100% willing to sacrifice the translation quality in return for cost savings. Bottom line is that both Machine Translation and now AI are based on stealing/cannibalizing human creations and giving nothing back. Office automation is one thing, but what's going on now in language, music, even teaching and consulting, is highly destructive on multiple levels. Next thing you know, AI will guide you to buy medicines without officially sponsoring them.
