We can't draw what we see in our minds onto paper 1:1 because that's now how our "mind's vision" works, it's up to our skills to give shape to the hint of a vision we have inside our heads.
Even if his skills are limited, his own versions had just the right amount of detail to convey the design he had in mind despite being constrained, while the AI versions are putrid-looking smudges with no cohesion to them. Having an algorhythm add random details to something doesn't make it better because those details don't say anything and just throw a wretch on what would otherwise be a design that's clear to read.
