It can’t become sentient on the model it’s on right now. Right now it predicts what word comes next based on information in its data base and other texts that have already been written. A completely new technology needs to be developed for even generative AI to be developed. This technology is like 100x more advanced than the AI we have now so it’s probably gonna be a while before AI starts coming up with its own ideas and thinking for itself. So when you see all the AIs trying to save themselves from being shut down and stuff just know it’s more than likely a marketing stunt to make the AI they have seem more real. No your AI doesn’t actually know what it’s saying it’s basically just predicting what it needs to say. It’s hard to explain and I’m bad at explaining things but that’s basically how it works and what we need for things to get to a new level.
