Tbf its accessibility and affordability. Not everyone can hire actual artists to do stuff. When you first start out you you really just gotta do with what you have. AI art is good if your hand drawing 90% of the scene, and using AI just to shade in certain parts or automate the more tedious parts of the process. Thing is AI companies right now are just shilling slop. Im a CS student at SFU and my prof is a huge AI hater despite his research ebing AI stuff. Search up Yagiz Aksoy's research on 2 minute papers. He made a system where you can take any photo you want, and change the lighting in it as if it was blender. Like unironically you can take a phoot, and have it turn night. You can make a point light, and then add it to where night lights are supposed ot be. You can change the material and the reflectance of certain materials in the image, and whatnot. Thats REAL AI. Thats a TOOL that normal people can use to express themselves in art, instead of letting an algorithm express itself in the art. My advice for artists is that yall are NEVER gonna be replaced with AI any time soon. Because your knowledge lies in how to make good art, rather than the medium at which you do it in. In the future you might ask AI to do certain perspective shifts in a final result, or shade a crudely colored picture, or even interpolate between frames in some 2D animation. Eitherway, yall should learn a bit on how to use ComfyUI and make sure your the one in controll, not the AI. Im a programmer and I use ChatGPT only as a documentation tool. I ask it how a function might behave or what the data in a program might look like. But I almost never use the code it generates since it often times is unreadable, overcomplicated, buggy slop. Its the text equivalent of AI art that looks wierdly over realistic
