Typing in “girl in city with portal” and clicking a button is laughably easy. “Choosing a model”, whose image has likely been stolen by AI, is just the AI user going to Google images and clicking on a picture of a pretty woman to use. There is no permission, asked no collaboration, there is no thought. Eight words and a clicked button, and you’re saying the THOUGHT of the concept is hard work??? I would highly recommend looking up the video titled, ‘I took this photo with a plastic bag ‘. This particular photographer is an excellent example that photography is not just “pressing a button“. He flies in planes to remote places, sits out in the freezing rain for hours upon hours, hikes up mountains, and paints with light and fire. He spends hours afterward fixing up his scenes and delicately placing things exactly how he wants. He thinks of a concept, “wow I would like to see a girl in a city standing inside of a portal” and he drives out to the city, positions his lights, finds the perfect place, and uses the quirks of the city around him to make his photo even more memorable. He, too, thought of a concept and executed it, using time and forethought and planning and skills honed over thousands of hours. Art is something a human put effort, time, and learned skill into, and I’m tired of pretending it’s not. AI vomiting up stolen pixels in a pleasing way is a mockery to what art is.
