Yeah. And sometimes I wonder if me being shocked about the chinese people's acceptance and trust towards their rulers says more about me than them. I mean, since my birth all I've experienced was rising prices, one economic crisis after the other and politicians becoming more and more incompetent and/or corrupt while big tech and pharma run rampant.
Wonder how much media shaped my view of China. Maybe to the people it's not dystopian at all. Maybe we would be willing to accept way more if our governments had proven over the last decades that they care about their country and people instead of their own pockets. Maybe the Chinese people are naive, but maybe their trust is reasonable and pays off for them? No idea. To me it's unthinkable, but I am not Chinese.
