I try to put myself in the shoes of a driver,I don't think I would have managed to break on time to be honest, this person was not very smart to cross the road with no night equipment and looking the other way....But also, these self driving cars are not going to be here for a good 20 to 40 years, I just cannot see this happening due to different problems which may arise on a single road + hackers + weather conditions + others cars around driving manually which may cause way too many problems to the self driving cars.
