@ZeeGalaxy301OFFICIAL Never said it was ethical to steal people's work. There is a reason there are laws about that. There also comes a point of trying to argue the difference between fan art, adopting someone else's style/theme/look, and being considered enough of a counter fit to be sued for intellectual property infringement.
Kinda like the whole Eeveelution situation. Pokemon has basically said they're not going to do another eeveelution, because there are way too many FakeMon covering every type they haven't done.
So at what point are you allowed to make your own things, that subject wise have nothing to do with the style of the person you're using?
That's the debate with AI versions of other people's stuff, is it transformative enough?
It can't be about the fact that an AI did it in minutes/seconds versus someone taking the time to draw it themself. Because that's a weak reason that sounds more like complaining someone/something is better than you at something.
Because eventually it's going to get harder and harder to tell human work from AI generated. Especially if it can just mimic someone's style, but create works with prompts that that person's style would never be used to make. Time will pass, people's styles will be forgotten and eventually rediscovered, is it new then or still theft?
SO, again, directly snatching someone else's work. Even if that work itself is AI generated, and slapping a styling filter over it. Is it transformative enough? I personally don't think so.
What about using someone else's style or techniques? Can the method one uses a tool to accomplish something be considered intellectual property?
But in that case, does that mean the pokemon company has grounds to start suing everyone who makes Fakemon?
