because there is thought as to which references get used past just "this fits the prompt" - it takes skills to find good references, skills that ai cant ever have
humans can also take multiple references and warp them and manipulate them to fit their own ideas - ai, once again, can only warp things to fit a prompt, and it cant intuitively warp things without first stealing someone else's art to base its warping off of
the art the people made isnt just "replicated art" - theres a story behind every piece, and every piece has a real person behind it who put time and love and care into every detail - ai can only create pieces that it "thinks" looks close enough, and doesnt actually have any creativity behind it
im trying to come up with a clever analogy to outline this point to you but i cant, so i will leave you with this - there is a difference between taking inspiration and just plain taking - the very nature of ai specifically as a piece of technology that can ONLY replicate means it cannot take inspiration and can only do a cheap imitation
