I wonder how well these various self driving cars work in heavy rain, heavy snowfall and fog? What if there is mud hiding lines on the road? Why do they test them in Texas? Could it be because they are rubbish in anything but a mainly dry climate? I also wonder how their accident rate in the USA is relevant to a country like the UK that has a very much lower accident rate than the USA? Wouldn't the best way to reduce the accident rate in the USA start off with better trained and tested drivers, safer vehicles and a better designed road system than one that allows drivers to become inattentive due to the monotony of long straight roads? Only then can you realistically consider if a self driving vehicle is better than a well trained human.
