@chara_dreemurrUT Your claim that AI lacks effort is wrong. AI doesn’t "recreate" art - it generates new images based on learned patterns, just like artists draw from trees, old masters, or manga. You say most artists start from passion, not money, because "art isn’t high paying"? Tell that to commission artists charging hundreds per piece. AI’s no greedier. Especially when you can run it locally, no "evil" corporations involved. Plus, AI’s often cheaper than hiring an artist of equal skill. And passion? Crafting prompts and refining outputs takes creativity, just like sketching.
You say that artists mostly learn from "real objects" , not other art. And only "2 out of 20" mimic existing styles? That’s naive. With billions of images, videos, and artworks out there, every artist overlaps with someone, intentionally or not. Your style might feel unique, but I bet its possible to find similar works. You know, I can prompt "unique" image, blending Van Gogh, random anime artist and Leica Q2 style photos with certain lens. Humans and AI both draw from a limited "datasetß of visual culture. Crossovers are inevitable. Claiming AI’s process isn’t art because it’s fast is just gatekeeping. I care about the result, not the hours spent. If AI images aren’t art, neither’s a beautiful photo snapped and edited in minutes by some pro.
Your taxi driver analogy is dramatic but flawed. AI isn’t a thief stealing your car. It’s another, more productive driver on faster car, who sometimes drives bad. Its just another tool, like cameras were to painters in XIX-XXs. (Photography took around 40 years to became "art" officially BTW) Tech always disrupts. Factory workers adapted back then, and so will artists. You said art’s a low-paying passion? Funny, then why’s your taxi driver in a "highest paying job"? Truly creative artists, or those who embrace AI as a tool will keep their places. The rest will have a respectable hobby, like knitting sweaters after industrial revolution happened.
I put "artists" in quotes to echo your dismissal of AI users as non-artists. I’ve got a traditional art background and now learning photo/videography. AI’s a game-changing tool, not a threat. Hours don't make art - results do. AI takes only one thing from artists. "Magic" of creation. When time doesnt matter, its a race of creativity.
