@eltiolavara9 I get that for many people art functions as a "higher calling," and I don't object to people experiencing it that way personally.
What I do object to is the frequent inability to recognize that as a subjective orientation rather than a universal human feature. There's this persistent assumption among many artists that what they do is ontologically privileged — that making art taps into some deeper "essence of humanity."
That's the part I find philosophically incoherent. It mistakes a personal value hierarchy for an objective claim about human nature, then frames disagreement as deficiency rather than difference.
And yeah — when people treat my perspective as evidence I'm somehow less human (which does happen constantly; the number of times I got called robot-like, soulless etc. because of my position on this topic is... considerable), I'm not exactly motivated to prioritize their economic concerns over my own practical needs. 🤷
