Exactly this. This video is good, but it lacks any sort of historical material/socioeconomic analysis. It lacks an understanding of the developments of society over time.
The Marcus Aurelius quote in the video itself is actually quite apt here. "Do what's in your human nature." Whether that be making sand castles, painting portraits of people, whispering to the machines (AI) to sus out something beautiful from it, or even just the joy of cooking a really good steak. It doesn't matter what or how you choose to "express yourself" what matters is that you are doing it.
And yeah, the big elephant in the room is ultimately that every person in the industrialized world is desperately trying to "make it" as an artist in some form because gambling on getting recognized and getting rich is basically the only way out of poverty for millions of us. It's a gold rush as you said. Everyone wants out of the capitalistic rat race, and getting rich off of "making content" seems like a viable option.
