@lepidoptera9337 Yes, but the question is really regarding how to ascertain ‘consciousness’ in AI when humans are struggling to define it in humans, with many neurobiologists like Sapolsky putting forward quite strong arguments that it doesn’t really exist. The complexity of how environmental influences affect the expression of genetic predispositions can be argued to negate consciousness as defined by some people, so then it becomes an issue of semantics rather than actual science. How you define consciousness determines whether or not you think AI or humans actually exhibit it.
