@StrataNomad Taking a picture requires you effort! You gotta adjust the right angle for the camera, the right filters, the right settings to take it, all is manual work. i'm not criticizing minimal effort i'm criticizing 0% effort for ART alone. AI is a tool, i get that part, but just because a screwdriver is great at what it does, would you use to teethbursh? Ofc not. AI can have it's uses, but on ART? Is plain sad. DO you really think is worth replacing something created by a human, with something created by a BUNCH of 0's and 1s? Come on dude. What's the next step? Replace babysitters for robots with AI? Teachers for AI? Cooking for AI? Because we are most likely able to get to that level, we are advancing fast into it. I have used generative AI in the past to create profile pictures for myself, but i stoped when i realized how much damage it does for people who put effort to create it. The dedication of someone to earn skills, getting replaced by a machine? Wow. And before you use the photographic example again, lemme use it for you so i can do all in one text. Before, artists used to paint stuff, before cameras where invented, and a good artist could capture the essence of a real world sunset as example, but a camera could just do it better. Now, the camera does it better? Yes. They could exist together? Yes. They can exist together because while cameras capture photos with realistic accuracy, an artisti painting or drawing would do so to express the way they see it, leaving accuracy aside because art is a form of expression. That's different when it comes to AI, because AI can be ALL OF THEM, is not just taking a brach of a tree to take care of, is replacing the whole tree from the root up to the leafs... Do you understand now? I'm concerned about the people who's jobs, who's skills are going to matter NOTHING in the face of the tool. YES i think there is a way for AI to help artists, to create a sketch to give them a refference to spare a bit of time, but creating the whole product? No. If you are a McDonalds employee, and you know how to cook a BigMac and you're at home, you can cook you friends a BigMac and say "I made it'. But you can't just order from some delivery app and say "i cooked it" NO you just made a request, and someonelse did. I could give much more examples. To finish and as a reminder, i'm not against AI all together, i'm against the way it's being used, specially GENERATIVE AI. There has to be a better way and i think people's anger is justified. Yes some used ignorant arguments with no logic. As example, altough you and i don't agree in this topic, at least we're keeping respect backing up some logic in our arguments, unlike most of Internet's discussions, but that is a whole different subject.
