That's the most common and intuitive objection, and it's a reasonable one. But the video's challenge to it is simple: how do you know that's not what consciousness is? We don't actually have a definition of consciousness that rules out statistical pattern matching. For all we know, that's exactly what neurons are doing. The description you gave of AI detecting patterns, predicting outputs, generating coherent responses isn't obviously that different from what neuroscientists describe the brain doing. The hard problem is that we can't explain why any physical process produces experience. So saying "it's just an algorithm" assumes we already know algorithms can't be conscious which is precisely what nobody has been able to prove.
